1. Two or three fonts are enough

2. Standard fonts are the coolest

An unusual font is always interesting. But, having seen something unusual, the user can easily escape from the immediate content and lose the thread. And for the site, this is not very healthy.

3.Contrast – the whole head

Another important point is the readability of the text, which in many respects provides contrast with the background. The normal contrast ratio is somewhere around 4: 1.

4. Screaming at the reader is a sign of bad tone

This, of course, is not about a literal scream, but the WRITING OF SOME TEXT BLOCKS CAPSOM. Perhaps this is the worst accent tool. It’s much better to highlight important points with bold text.

5.No dangling lines

The upper and lower hanging lines, which are also called widows and orphans, are easily removed by wrapping or aligning the letter spacing. But to spare them and leave them on the site is not the best solution.

6.line length

Too long, as well as too short lines are clearly not the best form of textual information on the site. The ideal length of lines in the desktop version of the site is 60 characters, normal – 40-70 characters.

7.Attention mobile version

It’s time to come to terms with the fact that there are more mobile Internet users for several years than PC users. Therefore, when creating a mobile version of the site, you need not only to reduce the desktop size but to work out the mobile design separately, which, by the way, has its own typographic rules. For example, the optimal line length, which we talked about in the last paragraph, for the mobile version is somewhere around 30-40 characters.

8.Distance between lines

To make the user as comfortable as possible to read the text, you need to give him a certain supply of air between the lines. Ideally, line spacing should be 130-150% of character height.
